TX Bounty Hunter Indicted on Felony Assault Charge

A Waco, Texas bounty hunter was recently found guilty on enhanced aggravated assault charges, a first-degree felony punishable by up to life in prison. Dale “Cowboy” Cobb was found guilty after an October 2006 incident where he assaulted James Callahan, who had missed his court date. According to Cobb, Callahan attacked his partner Ron Hill, which is when Callahan entered the melee. Bondmsan Puts Bounty on Armstrong’s Missing Bike

Brian Montano, a bail agent in Sacramento, California, has put up a $1,000 reward for anyone who returns Lance Armstrong’s stolen bicycle to his Atlantis Bail Bonds office.  Armstrong’s bike was stolen from a truck parked outside a Sacramento hotel.  Montano has said he has put the reward up because he “just wants to clear this ordeal up for Sacramento.”  Armstrong was in town for the annual Tour of California bike race.  Read More →

Accused California Bondsman Passes Away

California bondsman Joaquin Cruz, accused of extorting money, has passed away from pancreatic cancer. He died before going to trial to face charges. Cruz’s attorney Arturo Revelo tried to get Cruz released from jail because of health reasons and has accused the system of killing his client by not providing good medical treatment. Revelo has now filed to have the charges against Cruz dropped. Cruz faced charges of false imprisonment, embezzlement and extortion. Local San Diego Legend Passes Away

George “King” Stahlman, a San Diego bail agent for over 60 years, passed away on Friday, February 13th.  Stahlman was 85.  A well-known figure in the San Diego area, Stahlman held the oldest bail bond license in the state.  According to his family, his motto was, “Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell and advertise” - a good motto for any bail agent.  Read More →
