Bail Reduced for Couple Accused of Embezzling $230K

Houston, TX. A couple accused of embezzling more than $230,000 from the Harris County District Attorney’s office appeared in court this week. The judge reduced the bail from hundreds of thousands of dollars for each person, to $25,000 each. Prosecutors say that the couple stole the money from a special fund set up to help victims of crime. Clients Protest Bail Agent in Texas

El Paso, Texas. An angry mob of protesters waved signs outside of Apodaca Bail Bonds in downtown El Paso. Protesters claim that they showed up for their court dates and have been awaiting the return of their bail deposits for more than 30 days. LA - Employee Steals Money From Bail Agency

Baton Rouge, LA - Scotty Tull, an employee of AAA Bail Bonds, was arrested on December 2, for allegedly accepting payment for bail bonds, but not passing the money along to the company. According to the authorities, Tull is believed to have taken more than $13,000 over a two year period. The agency was not aware that he had kept the money because there was no documentation showing that the bonds had been issued. It wasn’t until a bond was revoked that the fraud was discovered. Bondsman Shoots Attacking Pit Bull

Bondsman Edward Lee Parker Jr. of Cumberland Bail Bonds arrived to serve warrants when an aggravated pit bull was released on him and ordered to attack. In order to protect his own safety, Parker was forced to shoot the animal before it was able to attack him. The man who released the dog on the bondsman is now facing aggrevated assault charges. Cop Killers’ Bail Agent Offers Condolences

The bail agent who posted jail for Maurice Clemmons, accused of killing five Lakewood police officers, is defending his choice to bail Clemmons’ out of jail. Although the owner of Jail Sucks Bail Bonds is not granting interviews, he has posted an extensive statement on his website. Brian Malone Bail Bonds boasts 20 years of experience on his advertisements inside the Sacramento County Jail where he was using bulletin space to lure his victims. At least five inmates have accused Brian Malone of taking their money. The only problem, Brian Malone is not a license bail bondsman.
