Are Bail Agencies Discriminated Against When Leasing Office Space?

Wentworth, North Carolina– The Wentworth Town Council heard from local bail bondsmen at a recent meeting, after last month’s meeting singled out bondsmen in a discussion of leasing offices in the local town hall building. Last month, Councilman Dennis Paschal noted that he would “discriminate” against bondsmen when leasing the office space. Bail Bond Agents Under Fire

Kansas City, Missouri – Two bondsmen seeking a fugitive in Kansas City faced gunfire while doing their job. Neither man was injured and the suspects fled the scene. The bondsmen were in the area after they received information that a fugitive was in the area in a green van. When approaching the van, a man in front of the van pointed a gun at the bondsmen. The bondsmen, who were armed themselves, disarmed two men near the van. While the bondsmen were dealing with two men outside the van, two men in the van fired at the bondsmen while driving away. Bondsmen Accused of Harming Suspect

St. Louis, MO – Bondsmen Kevin Ritrovato, Sean Baker, and Shawn Boyer of F&N Bail Bonds are being accused of torturing a man they apprehended. The three are accused of wiping mace into the genitals and face of a felon who allegedly owed the bond company $225 after not appearing in court. Pastor-Bondsman Found Guilty

Fayetteville, NC – Bondsman and pastor Robert Lee McQueen has been found guilty of weapons and drugs offenses in federal court. The bondsman was arrested in 2008 and was charged with six counts. Before his arrest, he owned McQ Bail Bonds and worked as a pastor at Burning Bush Missionary Baptist Church. McQueen could face millions of dollars in penalties and life in prison.
