CO Releases 10 Felons Early

Colorado, in an attempt to save $19 million in prison costs, has released their first 10 felons under the new early release plan. From the looks of things, the state may soon have to find another way to save $19 million. The first 10 prisonsers released, the cream of the crop from the eligible applicant pool, have been arrested on average 19.5 times a piece, including arrests for escape attempts and parole violation.

2,600 former inmates that are currently on parole will no longer be supervised to make room in the budget for the extensive supervision the newly released inmates will require. Part of the early release program includes mental health treatment.
