CO Releases 10 Felons Early

Colorado, in an attempt to save $19 million in prison costs, has released their first 10 felons under the new early release plan. From the looks of things, the state may soon have to find another way to save $19 million. The first 10 prisonsers released, the cream of the crop from the eligible applicant pool, have been arrested on average 19.5 times a piece, including arrests for escape attempts and parole violation. 2,600 former inmates that are currently on parole will no longer be supervised to make room in the budget for the extensive supervision... Read more

“Dog” Arrests Man Inside Police Station

Cheazere Whiteley had gone with his parents to a police station in Colorado Springs, CO with the intent of turning himself in for failing to appear in court.  During the process of turning himself in, Duane “Dog” Chapman and his team (including film crew) swooped in and arrested him.  Officers at the police station recognized Chapman as a bounty hunter and let him make his arrest. Colorado County Debates Pretrial Release

Colorado bondsman Steve Mares is speaking out about Larimer County’s pretrial service program.  Mares feels that the $1.7 million Larimer County spends on the pretrial service program is excessive, especially compared to the $802,000 budget Jefferson County, twice the size of Larimer County, spends on their pretrial  service program. Mares maintains that the pretrial service program is taking business away from the private bail sector, that the pretrial service program is not as effective, and that the pretrial service program places unnecessary... Read more
