Inmate Escapes as Bondsmen Hand Him Over

LAFAYETTE, LA – Steven Guillory briefly escaped from authorities after being captured for missing his court date. Bondsmen arrested Guillory and were handing the felon over to deputies. While the handcuffs were removed from Guillory for the process, he escaped. Guillory was recaptured again within one hour. Guillory was a parish inmate and faces several charges. THIBODAUX, LA – A new bill has been introduced in Louisiana, suggesting that some pre-trial inmates could be placed on house arrest in order to ease overcrowded conditions at Lafourche Parish jail. Representative Damon Baldone’s House Bill 653 would permit some inmates to be placed in house arrest with an electronic monitoring device. The Lafourche Sheriff’s Office would have discretion as to which inmates to select for home arrest, although inmates accused of violent crimes or sex crimes would not be eligible. LA Bondsman’s License Suspended

Bail Agent Scotty Lee Tull of Denham Springs, Louisiana, has had his bail license temporarily suspended after being accused of misappropriating bail premiums. Tull was fined $8,400 by the Louisiana Department of Insurance after allegedly collecting over $15,000 worth of bail premiums without sending the premiums to his company. Read the entire story here.
